Cables and upgrades for dCS




At Entreq we believe that no chain is stronger than it’s weakest link and as a result we strive to use the best possible equipment to help qualify our cable designs and accessories.

For over 12 years we have used dCS Digital products (full Scarlatti system’s) as the cornerstone of our development process, believing them to be the pinnacle of digital replay. Our knowledge and therefore experience with obtaining, what we believe, to be the maximum performance from dCS Dac´s, transports, up-samplers and clocks is comprehensive.

In our development of our products, this comprehensive body of knowledge has raised and also asked the question, what is the best & most economic route to upgrade a dCS system ? We would answer ‘by the choice of cables you use in your system’ but, more specifically, we have found the Firewire signal cable is generally the most important cable to initially replace. This should ideally, if you are using an external clock, be followed immediately or in tandem with replacement of the clock cables…

Many may find that the idea of sonic improvements by replacing the clock cables (as it is not taking direct signal information) a difficult concept to grasp but let us assure you it has a big influence! Just listen to our entry-level Discover cables and you will understand the irrefutable truth. Similarly you will find the same level of improvement when changing the RCA or BNC digital connection between Transport & Upsampler.

Finally comes the reduction of vibration, the thing that can contaminate the sensitive signal, causing smearing & effecting musical insight before it ever reaches our ears. For this particular job we have our own isolation product called Cat feet & Lion feet, both of which offer a solution dependent on placement & specific weights of the products placed upon them.
